CYBERSECURITY APPRENTICESHIP
Our Apprenticeship Program combines education, training, certification and real-world experience to develop a highly-skilled cybersecurity workforce. ISG has a proven method that is efficient, dependable, repeatable, and scalable.
To meet the growing need for an experienced and highly skilled cybersecurity workforce, ISG launched our Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program (ICAP) in 2013. This 3-phase program provides talented individuals with validated technical skills access to subject matter experts, training in virtual environments, and hands-on experience dealing with real-world cybersecurity issues. This enables us to bring participants up to speed quickly and efficiently and offers our clients a new generation of cyber talent uniquely suited to meet their specific needs.
TESTIMONIALS
I am a Veteran who served twenty years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, as a System Planner and Network Engineer. Transitioning to cybersecurity was a natural career path for me. The importance of communication and a second opportunity to serve my community led me to remain in the information technology career field. ISG foundational training provided me an opportunity to broaden my skill set. The training made me aware of the tools and applications required to understand and defend the modern network. ISG provided lab environments with group exercises. This hands-on training approach changed my thought process and enhanced my problem-solving techniques. The apprenticeship model is an excellent training approach. There are many cybersecurity pathways, however, the ISG apprenticeship program allows participants to determine the path that's best for them. The program provided an opportunity to train alongside cybersecurity experts while providing a view of the network and the daily tasks required to mitigate and protect vital systems. The program offered access to numerous employment opportunities. It provided exposure to both management and the technical aspects of cybersecurity. In addition to the work experience, it also offered an opportunity to advance cybersecurity certifications.

In 2016 a military vehicle rollover accident ended my military career. I completed two combat tours without a scratch, and now found myself on bed rest with several injuries, but I made a conscious decision not to give up on life. As a father of two, I needed to have a plan to find employment after my recovery. Since IT systems and Network Administration was my military specialty, I decided to enroll in the Wake Tech IT certification course for military veterans. During my education at Wake Tech, I learned of the ISG Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program. I did some research, interviewed with ISG and later the state of North Carolina, and was accepted for the program. The two years at NC DIT, allowed me to become familiar with enterprise systems, processes, and senior IT security specialist provided one-on-one mentorship. During that time ISG provided the training I needed to become successful. After two years of hard work, I completed the ISG Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program, gained invaluable cybersecurity work experience and I passed the CISSP exam. Today, I work for Red Hat as an IT/Security auditor and feel like a productive citizen once again. The ISG Cybersecurity Program provided the pathway, education, training, and work experience to reset my life.
